Myocardial Perfusion Imaging

Myocardial Perfusion Imaging (MPI), also known as Cardiac or Thallium Scan, is a non-invasive diagnostic procedure that evaluates coronary artery health. Utilizing radiopharmaceuticals such as Tc-99m-based agents or Thallium-201, MPI assesses blood flow to the heart muscle, aiding in the detection of coronary artery disease (CAD). This imaging technique is commonly employed prior to angiography to identify areas of ischemia or infarction, and post-intervention to assess the effectiveness of treatments like angioplasty or coronary artery bypass grafting.
